Day 28.

Last Day of Work.

Today has been a non-stop day for me. From replying to emails, editing photographs, and doing another photo shoot, I even forgot to have lunch!

After a long days of work and shooting, I’m now resting in my cosy room, sitting on my chair with this ‘Mango and Peach Salsa’ scented candle editing photographs for tomorrow. This is the typical atmosphere that I love to edit the most. Dark, with a spark of light coming from a candle with a scent that calms you down whilst listening to relaxing music.

Day 27.

SPARKLE.

From the moment I woke up, it has been a very exciting day for me. I received an email reply from a photographer who I’ve been wanting to work for in a while regarding work experience! (not going to spoil the surprise yet, but I will once it’s confirmed!)

Spent my day getting ready for the Easter holidays and scanning photographs from my film camera taken on last weekends photo shoot.

Todays 365 photograph is of a necklace that I recently bought hanging on my table lamp. The sun was shining through my windows and the little bead crystals sparkled my room beautifully.

Day 26.
FORGIVENESS.
I have spent at least 15 minutes staring at this ‘description box’ not knowing what to write because I am so ashamed about my 365 goal. However, as you all can see, I have been PACKED with photo shoots for the past few months and busy with uni work! Easter holidays are about to commence and there will be lots and lots of organizing going on for Phoebetography. So. I am sincerely SORRY for my horrible promise that I made guys! I will do my best to post as often as I can and that is a true promise right there!

FUN SNAPS FIREWORKS.
Last weekend I took a little trip down to London to visit some relatives and celebrate Chinese New Year where I used to call Home, and still do!

I managed to catch the Chinese New Year celebrations in China Town, and it was full of loud and exciting celebrations.

This photograph was taken by Pablo who also bought me a box of ‘Fun Snaps’ Fireworks. These boxes of Fun Snaps are filled with little wraps of paper that you throw on the ground which makes a “SNAP” noise.

Don’t fear! These fun little things are harmless, so kids from all ages were playing with them which filled the whole town with more joy and celebrations.

WISHING LANTERNS.
Lanterns are one of the most prominent symbols of the Chinese New Year.
Our university decided to hold a Wishing Lantern Release this evening where you can write your dreams and aspirations on the lanterns and watch it float into the sky.
A bunch of my hall mates and I decided to join in this ceremony. Unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to participate but we had a lovely time watching others release their lanterns into the windy sky.

CHINESE NEW YEAR.
On new years eve, many thoughts came into my head and I did start to feel a bit home sick as it was my first time celebrating CNY without my family, holding big parties and eating lots of my grandma’s yummy food.

30 minutes before the clock strikes 12, I began my count down alone in my room whilst working on my essay. Depressing isn’t it?

A hall mate of mine Alana came into my room acting all suspicious around me, but I was too distracted by my thoughts to realize what was actually going on.
When the clock stroked 12, I was blindfolded by Alana’s hands and led into the corridor. Next thing I knew I was surrounded with the majority of my hall mates wearing red, popping party poppers, and with handmade Chinese New Year decorations. I was handed this beautiful signed card by everyone and I was very much surprised and emotional for me. Some of my hall mates even teared up (you know who you are!) We sang, screamed, laughed and celebrated together all night long.

A BIG thank you to everyone who was there to celebrate this amazing day with me, and especially Jandy (Jess & Andy) for making this happen, and Lydia for being such an artist for the card. You guys really are my other family and I love you all.

So, the question is: HOW WAS YOUR CHINESE NEW YEARS?
For me, Chinese New Year this year is bitter sweet, but it’s definitely one that I will treasure forever ♥

Pulling all Nighters.
Today I decided to pull an all-nighter working on my essay to catch a deadline this week. I wasn’t alone, as Andy was also up working on his course work.
This photograph was taken around 7am in the morning. It only lasted for 30 minutes, then was covered away by grey clouds. But the view from the kitchen of this beautiful sunrise was so mesmerizing.
It’s always nice to watch the sun rise in the morning, as it reminds me that it’s going to be a lovely day.

Day 20

February is going to be a HELLA busy month for me. New course Units, Work Placements, Photo Shoots, and I cannot wait!
Today I spent heaps on art materials to prepare me for the workload for the month. I am very excited to use my new ‘ProMarker’ Pens as they are my new favourite stationery on my table.

Day 19

This week I have been busy planning photo shoots for next month with a dear friend Larissa, an excellent set designer. I was also lucky enough to be asked to photograph for a vintage 1940s shoot in March which I am totally excited about!

I went shopping the other day with Larissa and instead of buying things which we needed for ourselves, we ended up buying things for the future photo shoots! We found a beautiful masquerade mask and a gorgeous necklace on a little street in Bournemouth. The prices were reasonable and I can’t wait to use these stunning props in the future photo shoots!

Poole.
On Friday Larissa, Pablo and I decided to take a trip down to Poole to explore. We treated ourselves with delicious Starbucks for lunch, and took a quick stroll around the beautiful town as the sun sets. We came across a flock of birds in the sky creating stunning complex shapes together. I’ve seen this before in Brighton, but this just wasn’t the same.
In the top photograph, it looks as if they have just flown out of the window from the building, just like in a fantasy movie.
Funny that, I could’ve thought they were bees too!

Sometimes I do wish I was a beautiful butterfly. If it was any butterfly in the world, it would be this one. I know its not a REAL butterfly, but this one is the perfect one for me.
So, you’re probably wondering why butterfly?
Nowadays I haven’t been inspired much in my photography and its been really frustrating! I want to be able to fly and be free, just like a butterfly. To just spread my wings and fly off into another adventure and get lots and lots of inspiration from the beautiful world.

Day 15

I woke up this morning and I had a good feeling that it was going to be a very good day.
Weather is STUNNING today. The suns blazing in the clear sky which makes everything so cheerful and I got all 3 parcels in the post today after waiting for a whole week. Photo paper, ASOS package, and a Blackberry Torch! There’s so much that I have to do today, but after a morning of sweet surprises, it as definitely motivated me to work harder!

Work, Work, Work!
Spent my evening with Lydia in the Uni Library procrastinating. We did get some work done eventually, but it took time!
It was also raining outside, and still is! I love the sound of rain at night, its so soothing. Hopefully I’ll get more work done later in the evening, or just snuggle up in bed with Milo (my favourite hot chocolate) watching Vampire Diaries :)

Day 13

Today was a productive day.
Woke up, made myself a delicious healthy lunch, did my laundry, changed my bed sheets, skyped my parents, and in the evening, spent 4 hours in the darkroom alone printing my black and white prints and finding out we might have found the perfect house for next year. :)

This lovely photograph of Lydia taken during the same day as ‘Day 8’. Her expression on her face pretty much sums of my emotions after today, I hope everyone else also had a good day too despite the horrible weather in England!

Scans.
For the past 2 days I have been busy processing, scanning and printing images with my friend Alejandro. The glasses in the photograph are his, and everyone who knows him will agree that it has his name written all over it. (not physically!) Day 9

It’s 6 months till we move out from Halls and 9 months till we split up and move into little houses with each other. My halls mates and I started house hunting this week and went for our first viewing today. We came across this pedestrian light on a traffic light and I thought it looked quite interesting for a 365 photograph. Wish us luck on finding a beautiful house! :)
